When the project for this house started in Auray, Brittany year 2010, it was supposed to be a simple house renovation. However it was decided that it had to be demolished. The owners wanted an ecological passive house. The whole house is well insulated with thick concrete slabs and rock wool. The heat pump was abandoned in favor of a wood burning stove and heat transfer fluid-filled radiators. The stove is backed with unfired earth bricks, the kitchen and drawing room floors are of Burgundy stone and lime-based paint was used on the walls. The main facade overlooks a natural pond.
